Arburg is adding another 200,000 square feet to its headquarters in Lossburg, Germany.
Arburg GmbH + Co KG is building a 200,000-square-foot expansion at its Lossburg, Germany, headquarters to build large injection molding machines and complete production cells.
Site excavation work began in March. Arburg officials held a groundbreaking ceremony April 28.
Exact figures were not available, but the family owned machinery manufacturer is investing tens of millions of euros on the project. The expansion will boost production space in Lossburg by 13 percent.
Arburg officials expect to complete the new section in the fall of 2015.
At Technology Days, held in Lossburg in late March, Arburg executives reported growing sales of large-tonnage injection presses, with clamping forces up to 500 metric tons. Customers also are demanding turnkey systems from a single machinery supplier.
At the groundbreaking event, Michael Helh, Arburg managing partner, said the capital investment “demonstrates our clear commitment to Lossburg as a production location, and is a clear indicator of the long-term, targeted strategy for which Arburg has been famous for decades and makes us a reliable partner.”
Arburg has manufactured injection molding machines in its hometown of Lossburg for 60 years. The Black Forest town remains the only place Arburgs are assembled. |
