Charles Ross & Son Co. LPD and LLPD static mixers promote composition and temperature uniformity by increasing turbulence, while keeping pressure loss very low.

The LPD consists of a series of baffles, or “elements” positioned in series. Each element is a part of semi-elliptical plates set at 90 degrees to each other. The next element is rotated 90 degrees around the central axis with respect to the previous baffle set.

The LLPD model has plates oriented 120 degrees relative to each other, giving an even lower pressure drop.

On both models, flow is continuously spilt into layers and rotated into layers and rotated in alternating clockwise and counterclockwise directions. So the method subdivides the stream and generating striations .

During turbulent flow, the baffles enhance the random motion of molecules and formation of eddies.

Charles Ross & Son is based in Hauppauge, N.Y.
